When your fear is currency
And you feel that urgency
You want peace but there's war in your head
Maybe that's where life is born
When our façades are torn
Pain gives birth to the promise ahead
If you could let the pain of the past go
Of your soul
None of this is in your control
If you could only let your guard down
If you could learn to trust me somehow
Well I swear, that I won't let you go
If you could only let go your doubts
If you could just believe in me now
I swear, that I won't let you go
I won't let you go...
~Switchfoot, I Won't Let You Go
One of the biggest turns for Gemini in "Westfall" comes when she finally lays aside the pain of her past and accepts God's forgiveness. She has to break down quite a few times before she realizes just how much God loves her and wants her to follow him, but she finally surrenders when she finds another source of unconditional love -- Hudson.
I've loved the meaning and feeling of this song, and when I sketched out this scene I initially called "Surrender," I realized it fit so very well with this duality; yes, she's falling into Hudson's embrace, but she's also falling into the arms of Jesus her savior.
